I'm dying for a cigarette.
Nothing else is worth dying for. A lot of causes are worth fighting for, or risking your life for, but in those cases one usually hopes to survive in the end, even if it is only on a subconsious or instinctive level.
I think it's just plain silly to say "I'm willing to die so that there will be eternal peace and no cancer in the world," or I'd die for Love, Freedom, Honor, whatever notion you choose. Such a statement is too hypothetical and too vague to make sense.
