I'll never go back to consoles...the image quality of a PC game just blows them all away.
With a PC you can stay ahead of the curve a little bit, yeah, there are upgrades you may need to make...but the same is true of consoles-only you end up throwing the whole console away (or sticking it in the closet).
I like being able to download patches/fixes easily, too, with PC games.
Console games are good for their ease of use, though. Most people like to just pop in game and hang out with friends...and not have to worry about fooling around with display settings or other configuration issues. I'm just not one of those people: I like to get the best experience I can!
