A little off topic, but has anyone ever heard how Theismann changed how his last name sounded in college to rhyme with the trophy (used to be pronounced Theesman). I think I've heard that, hopefully not making it up.

that is true.
i don't seem to have a problem with these guys. in fact i think they are one of the better crews covering football. i have no problem with them being negative especially when a team deserves it. it seems that announcers are always trying to be positive with teams even when they don't deserve it. i like to know when a team or a player is doing something wrong.
i like pat summerall a lot but i think he has gotten too old. i remember watching a game last year when runner was all by himself and he stumbled and fell down and then got up and continued running. summerall announced that he was tackled and then fumbled. i forget who the color guy was but he did a good job of gracefully letting pat know that he was completely wrong on the call.
in my opinion brian baldinger of fox sports is one guy that shouldn't have a job. he is the master of the obvious and has no idea what is really going on with each team. maybe we should get rid of the national announcers and stay with the local guys.
