Saratoga, California: short drive from Stanford and Villa Montavo, some of the best weather in the world, wonderful people
Marseilles, France: If you can fake being a local, and can get past the crime, it is possibly the most beautiful place on the planet.
La Paz, Peru: taught music and english there for about a year. Within driving distance from Lake Titicaca, the perfect lake, in my opinnion, and more rich with cultural heritage than any place I've ever been.
Worst:
Sacramento, CA: Recently, a lot of people from my area (San Francisco bay area) have moved to sacramento because of higher real estate prices here, and such low prices ther. Let me warn you: there is a reason for the price drop. The place is depressing. Everyone seems to have layed back and taken mediocrity, and the weather is either unbearably hot, or grey.
Fresno, CA: see Sacramento, and put Fresno in the place where it said Sacramento.
Paris, France: I've never been to a city of such opposites. The city itself is beautiful, but the Paritians make it unbearable for Americans. I've been to Paris probably some six or seven times. Each time I have had an incodent or several incodents with the local people treating me like crap because I can't cover up my American accent. Not worth it to me.
