The first time I heard Led Zeppelin. I was about six or seven and all I listened to, as far as music, was the California Rasins. I was a little kid and didn't care. Then my Dad, God bless him, turned on his favorite station and 'Dazed and Confused'. It blew my mind. I had heard rock from this era before, but I wasn't really listining. For years after this I listined to everything rock. I knew NOTHING about who was playing it, I just knew I liked it.
Then I heard Puff Daddy's 'Come with me'. He took 'Kashmir' and started rapping about Godzilla over it. I was pretty steamed about it for a while. Then I watched the video on MTV. There was this guy on guitar, playing the chorus. I squinted my eyes and thought really hard. Who the heck was this? Well after checking it out I found out it was a guy named Jimmy Page. I'd been listining to him for years and years, but I had no idea who he was. I went all over searching for information on Jimmy, then Led, then all the bands that I loved. There was all this great information and music out there that I didn't even know existed.
I listined to everything from Neil Christian & the Crusaders to playing with Jeff Beck and the Yardbirds. I started to realize that there are growth patterns in artists skills, among other things.
That was my experince.
