Eat lots of Pasta on the Thursday before the game. Carbs are your friend and you WILL feel a difference if you dont stockpile up on them.
For breakfast gameday eat cereal, with OJ and a side glass of water. Lunch I suggest a hearty meal, but nothing greasy. Things such as a healthy burger or whatever your cafeteria is serving so long as it isnt loaded with grease or cheese. I always got a subway sandwitch before we loaded into the bus, eat it on the way there but be SURE you dont fill up, you want to stay a little hungry. DONT have a coke with it, if nothing else have a Sprite. Gatorade or water is best for you.
Stockpile up on water before gameday, should be clear with a hint of yellow in your piss. This will help thin out your blood a little bit (easier blood flow helps with quicker/better warmup) and will ensure more than enough water. During halftime drink Gatorade to get your electrolites back, you'd have lost lots of salts which are very important.
Hope this helps, enjoy your time. Sports is the only thing I miss from High School and I kick myself for not being even more serious about it.

Pretty much took the words out of my mouth. I dont know about football, but for cycling, which is even more aerobically intense, I eat the same way.
