If you were an animal ...
Maybe this belongs in Tilted Philosophy, or possibly Titled Nonsense, then again, maybe Tilted Living ... dunno ... anyway...
I got to thinking earlier today about how a person sees himself. As a metacognitive process, how does a person view themself? Since the human brain works on the basis of symbols, I got to thinking about what symbols I might identify myself with... I wonder if there are any universal symbols?
If I was an animal, what would I be?
If I were an tool or some other sort of instrument, what would I be?
What color am I? (read: not skin tone)
When you picture yourself mentally, what are you doing? (standing, sitting, laughing?)
More importantly, why do we think that about ourselves?
I think I'm a grizzley bear... for some reason that image comes to mind, but I don't know why. It could be that I see parallels in the bear's personality within my own -- usually quiet and marrauding, but powerful and loud when angry? Could it be the size of the bear and my size? Not sure...
I think I'm a Norman shield... (still trying to figure out why) -- I also think I'm the color red (possibly for the red cross on the shield)?
What symbols to you use to describe yourself? Why do you think that you use them? I used the above 3 items, as they came to mind quickly, but I'd be open to hearing about other symbols -- might strike a chord in me, or someone else reading this thread.
