Bah! There was nothing wrong with RE's controls!
Weird as first but like butter after.
I hope we don't have the DMC syndrome controls in RE4 though, where you're running towards a door, loading screen appears, then you end up going back through that door 'cause your thumb was down in the direction you were heading but the angle changed and fucked you up.
