WMP Codec Problem
I BitTorrented some episodes of Ren and Stimpy and Good Eats, two of the best TV shows ever.
They're .avi files, and they play great on my Linux machine using mplayer. mplayer reports that it's using libmad's libavplay codec.
I stuck 'em on a Samba share with the intention of playing them from my WinXP laptop, but Windows Media Player doesn't like the files. It goes to fetch up a codec, fails to do so, and then plays the audio from the show with a visualization as if it was an audio file.
Any ideas about this? How do I find out what codec would play the files? Once that's accomplished, how do I make WMP successfully fetch those codecs? Or failing that, how do I get them and install them myself?
