I have a glass desk & an optical mouse. The best thing to use for a mousepad is..... a kitchen cutting board!
Seriously, you can get them in all kinds of shapes and sizes, with plenty of surface area for your gaming needs.
Plus everyone who comes over will be like "Woah, you use a cutting board for your mouse pad?" and you can be like "Yep."
