Just to echo what the other ladies have said - truly the nipple will take a year to heal up properly - the skin inside the piercing may not be raw all that time but it's very very thin for several months and will close up quickly if you try to take the jewelry in and out. Having breastfed two children 'on demand' you would be taking it in and out all the time, and in the middle of the night you are *not* going to feel like messing with it. Breastfeeding is the most important and best thing that you can do for your child - wait until you're done breastfeeding.
