I don't have time to read all that crap but I can sum it up as follows:
40 years ago, Democrats were populists and Republicans were conservatives.
Today, Democrats are socialists and Republicans are populists.
The Dems went too far left and alienated their former base, but the Republicans did too and filled in the gap. My granddad was a lifelong Democrat until about 10 years ago for that reason.
