Ok, where do I start?
The History can be found

I'll give far warning that it becomes addicting just to read the comments posted about each ad.
Ok, someone or some group pays around $1,000 U.S. dollars to put a ad in this collage paper in Tucson, Arizona on May 1st each and every year. The ads seem to be meaningless at first glance, but seem to be encoded.
The ads started extremely simplistic and have become impossible to even have a chance to figure out.
First ad:
Latest ad:
Oh, and somewhere along the way, Mr. Smily decides to make a Cameo, in every may day other than the first two.
All I know about the ads:
Generally anti-Catholic
Mao is included in early ads and I thought it seemed that he faded away, not so.
Whoever is writing them has a good amount of British History and decent Math skills.
To me, if the purpose is to send a message to someone or some group you wouldn't make it this long or complicated. It would be something that could be uncoded in minutes if you knew what you were looking for. Many of the letters to the webmaster of the site talk about physics and some sort of "Cause."
These have been going on since the 80's so I feel that if this was dangerous at all something would have happened by now relating to it and they wouldn't support anyone trying to figure it out.
Personally Sign me up for the secret society theory. Any help anyone can provide on the ads would be EXTREMELY helpful. Also, try to look at all of them as a whole and not search down the context of one quote, which to me, doesn't help.
Questions:
Who?
How does all of this tie together?
For what purpose?
Why send gifts and messages to the guy in charge of running the website on the mystery?
Why spend so much time making these?
What does SR/CL mean?
(current may day pictures are being hosted a free image hosting place, trying to help cut down on some of the traffic to the may day site)
