Samurai Warriors is half good, and half bad. They took the Dynasty Warriors series and moved it to feudal Japan. The change of scenery is nice, but if you are used to the chinese names "Guan Yu", "Xiahou Dun", etc. it may take you a while to figure out who everyone is. Gameplay is similar to the rest of the series. Smash the square button for a while, hit triangle every once in a while, and hit circle if you're in trouble. The game is scaled to the level of the character you are playing, so a 20th lvl Yukimura will have trouble killing soldiers on his first board, even with fifth weapons and items. The game has an rpg element in that you now earn skill points, which can be used to earn a ton of passive skills which do anything from help you find better items, to block any incoming attacks while you are moving. They removed duels, but added a horrible castle type level that proves more annoying than entertaining. Some of the items are also separated by Field and Castle signifiers, so they will only be active on their respective type of board. However, some of the missions, called Siege, combine the two. You have to pick and choose which you want to use. I could go on, but suffice to say, if you like the DW series, you should be amused by this game for quite a while.
