Ok, I watched it yesterday. After Roger Ebert called it one of the funniest movies of all time, and hearing people I know say how awfully funny it was, it was time.
This movie is NOT that funny. If anything, it's amusing. But one of the funniest movies of all time? Not by a long shot. Sure, it has its moments, but it's nothing compared to REAL "funny" movies (and I'm not talking about Jim Carrey).
Perhaps it was over-rated or something? I just kept hearing it was so fucking funny, you laugh through the entire thing. But I kept waiting for the monster laughs and hysterical scenes, and they never happened. If anything, the movie was down-right GRUNGY. Grungier than Married With Children.
The parts I thought were funny: Explaining how the drummers kept dying.
The "11" notch on the amp.
The 18" Stonehenge.
See? Three parts! Three parts....that were funny. The rest was just amusing at the most. What happened? I consider myself very leniant for movies, but it just wasn't that damn funny. The acting was superb (they kept a straight face and the like) and made it seem real, but they did not make it laugh-out-loud, funniest-movie-of-all-time worthy.
I was thinking, maybe everyone likes it so much because it's such a GOOD movie. But the movie honestly wasn't THAT good, either. Just a run of the mill amusing mockumentary
Anyone agree? Disagree?
