it is my firm belief tec that everyone is a poet....lines don't have to rhyme, or be in proper structure...look at some of e e cummings work...
what you put into your writing your emotion and your feelings, thats what makes you a good writer.
i think the only way you can "get better" is to keep track of what you wrote, why you wrote it, look at your older stuff, compaired to your newer, what changed...you'll see how you're most comfortable writing, and will tone it even bettter.
