Let me clarify my previous statement. Fans of hockey (as I am) would be hard pressed to find a better matchup than Flames/Lightning. Exciting hockey, open ice, no trap, etc. But you and I aren't the people that the NHL needs to appeal to. No, I don't want to see the same teams in the Finals every year. But in this particular year, with the CBA fallout, the crappy national TV deal, and continuing indifference to the game, this particular matchup will generate very little interest outside of the home markets. Please remember, the hardcore hockey fan is NOT who the league needs to market to. The NHL needs to market itself to the people who would only watch a Red Wings/Devils final. NHL marketing is practically nil right now, and it isn't going to get any better after the ratings come out for these finals.
Oh yeah, Go Flames.
