I saw a premiere or something of
The Day After Tomorrow, tonight
And yes, like all other disaster movies it was a bit of a disaster. I dislike the idea of films getting a lot of acclaim, purely for the special effects. Although, i admit that the couple of minutes of some of the disaster sequences are spectacular and
seemingly real, but for the other hour and a bit it's just the common predictable tripe

- not that i was expecting any more or less.
Also some aspects of the phenonema which caused the disaster are contradicted later on with a few inconsistentcies (but i am probably being over-observant/pedantic, especially for this movie

).
Also, there was some other rather shallow political points made, especially at the end of the movie, which adds a bit of a laugh i guess.
In reterospect, i wouldn't have paid for the movie anyway (i went with a friend who won a ticket) although the price of the ticket may be worth it, just to see some of the disasters, which are quite eery yet beautiful (It's Mother Nature vs Man, or something

). Just make sure you have quite a low expectation for the rest of the movie and story and you might just enjoy it
