If you can't get a regular job, then take a volunteer one.
It will keep you out of the house and busy, not to mention it will put you out there in the world. you'll be able to meet other people and maybe the networking will net you a job.
Try the usual suspects, Salvation Army, Goodwill, American Cancer Society, the local hospital, etc.
