I ended up with a kidney infection and was in the hospital for a few days. As it stands now, I have a weak bladder and have to pee all the time (although i don't know it because I've lost alot of the sensitivity) . In my later years, I could have serious complications with my kidneys as well. Its not bad enough that I have accidents or anything.
Anyhow, I was a fool for not going to the doctor when I realized I had one, and now I'm going to pay for it for years.
I still get them every few months.

Going to get antibiotics is really the best idea (usually bactrim or something similar). The pain can be alleviated by OTC meds you can find in any drugstore. They will NOT eliminate the infection and like flamingpeach said, it can travel to your kidneys and send you to the hospital. I too was hospitalized for a kidney infection. I had a bladder infection that wasn't bad, thought it had gone away when really it just migrated. Spent a week hooked up to iv's, missed school and was generally miserable.
