The win32 build of GIMP 2.01 is now available; just bugfixes until the planned summer release of 2.2 from what I have read on the web.
Just installed it today and it has definitely improved:
- it actually runs on my streamlined winXP installation; 2.0 would install but crash instantly when I tried to open it.
- noticeably faster

the version with an windows installer. You can of course DL the source code and compile in windows if you are so inclined as well. I was definitely waiting for this; the *nix code has been out there for at least a week but my slackware/debian box hardly get used now and it was a minor inconvenience using my crash box for image editing work. (I do have PS 6 and 7 but rarely touch them as the interface is much bulkier than the GIMP)
