Starting the conversation is the hardest part. I find that some guys are better at it than others. I'm not one of the good ones. If I ever tried to pick up a girl in a bar years ago, I was doomed for failure if I had to make the approach. Heck, even if I try and talk with women in bars now when I'm on the road (and I'm not trying to pick them up), I still have trouble getting a conversation started. The only thing that has ever worked for me it to not try at it. When I'm not trying, I guess I'm more relaxed. I can meet women on the street and in elevators all day long, but put me in a "social" setting and I'm doomed.
