The whole album Layla and other assorted love songs is themed about an unrequited love. At the time, Eric Clapton was in love with his best friend's wife; his best friend being George Harrison. The album is an open wound, but it's brilliant; a true classic. If you can listen to Clapton pouring his heart out and not be moved, you're a really cold person.
