I thought this goes without saying, but I suppose not. That money that is so "frivolously" spent brings in advertising revenue for MTV. Which keeps people hired, and enables them to expand and hire new people.
They're not just throwing it down the drain. And even if they were, who cares? It's their money, therefore it's none of your business.
Instead of fretting over people spending money in ways you don't like, worry about becoming successful so you can afford to donate thousands of dollars of your own damn money if you so desire.
