There are dyes and then there are dyes. With my lovely wife's hair (currently purple), I've learned a few things about this.

I hope this is a hypothetical question? If not, what kind of dye are we talking about? Temporary? Semi-permanent? Permanent? Each kind of dye bumps up one "type" if you use heat or prolong the application time.

Basically, any dye that isn't Permanent will fade to your natural color over time. There's not a whole lot you can do to speed that up. With more temporary dyes, you can wash your hair a bunch of times. Most temporary dyes will wash out in a dozen or so shampooings.

Nisses is right, though, if it's heavy-duty stuff, the best you're going to get if you need to be back to normal now is to bleach and re-dye.
