I'm sure BoCo will give you better advice, but from what I know you will loose weight by starving, but mostly water weight. Also, when your body begins starving, it usually depletes muscle stores for protein content and leave the fat deposits for energy. Then, once you start eating, your body will store more fat as a feast/famine defense.
That's what I remember from health class. Basically, don't starve your self, just eat better and workout harder.
