A better question might be "why did my cousin and her friends act like that?" instead of blaming an entire gender.
It strikes me that they wanted to see more of you and were upset that you didn't get to stay longer. Flattering, really. They wanted to hang out more with you, and were upset that you couldn't stay - they probably assumed you didn't want to stay, or that they weren't as important as whatever else you had to do.
