A clitoral hood piercing is one of the easiest and pain-free female genital piercings possible. It's also one of the most useful from her perspective, as when pressure is applied it directly stimulates the clitoris, as opposed to more ornamental piercings like the inner or outer labia. Healing time is extremely short on the piercing since it's such a vascular and protected area (normally you aren't bumping that into lots of stuff during an average day). Plus, once it's healed you can take it out for short durations if you prefer to play without any ornamentation. Since it doesn't directly interfere with the clitoris (such as a triangle or clitoral shaft piercing) there's no reason to be concerned about any sort of nerve damage. If you do notice a decrease in sensitivity (which is very uncommon but not unheard-of) simply remove the jewelry for a few days and it'll return to normal. I pierced my wife's hood (vertically) about 2 years ago and she's never had any kind of problems with it aside from being able to achieve multiple orgasms from grinding it, which doesn't seem like a bad problem to have.
Plan9: There are plenty of reputable professionals out there who aren't considered "trashy piercer kids" and who would do a great job on Kurant's wife's piercing. I don't know where you go to get your body modification needs met but I collect piercings and have yet to get one from a "trashy piercr kid".
I'm a professional piercer in Austin, TX and if there are any other questions I could help out with please feel free to ask. Also, where are you located? Maybe I could recommend a shop or a piercer who are clean and sterile and would do a great job with the piercing, should she decide to get it.
