Guess I need to clarify a bit. I assumed this thread was asking if humans today, would create god if there was no existing religion.
While I am aware that many of the greatest scientific minds of all time had great faith in a creator entity(God if you will), I did not take that into consideration in my reply. As the thread requested input as to possibilities that would not encompass these facts.
I have no problem with Faith based religion, and in fact practiced one for many years, this should have no bearing on the current topic.
I was simply attempting to imply that most of the reason for the creation of "gods" was due to the unexplainable forces of nature at the time of such creations.
