I think it would be hard to cope with. But this may depend on the severity of the situation as well as how dedicated this relationship is. Few months, years? If it was truly the love of your life, say your wife then I would say it may not matter. I'm sure I would feel bad about our life and feel bad for her, but I wouldn't leave her after I committed my life to her.
