What to do about a bandwidth cap

I just got hired at a private club in Key Largo, and they informed me that they have a bandwidth cap on the internet connection in the employee housing. It's so low that playing a computer game (BFBC:2) would alert the IT guys and they'd limit my connection until I paid a fee to restore normal limits.

Personally, I think this is ridiculous. They allow us to use it for basic usage (reading email, browsing the web, etc) which is understandable, for a library. I feel that in our housing areas the internet connection shouldn't be capped, or at least capped at a limit that allows for some entertainment. I was wondering if anyone knows any backdoors that would allow me to play BFBC:2 (at the very least), or if using an alternate ISP would even be possible at a private club.

So it sounds like a low bandwidth internet connection is free, and a higher limit one comes with a fee?

I'm thinking if you want to game, and you want to keep your job, paying the fee is the smarter choice.

I suggest getting your own wireless hotspot. I would not recommend trying to find backdoors on the network at your place of work.

Job that pays the $$ > Best game in the world.

I agree with the other posters. Don't try to circumvent your employer's restrictions. You can ask them about getting your own internet connection, otherwise just pay the extra fee (or take a break from BFBC:2).

games like this require low latency, but i didn't think they raped bandwith like torrenting or netflix? are they really that demanding on the connection? i thought you could have a ton of people playing these types of games, however a few people torrenting will ruin the connection for everyone. am i wrong?
