i turned in my notice yesterday. i told them my last would be the 8th of february. they were kinda dumbfounded. i told them it gave them 4 weeks for me to teach someone how to do trans work or ample time to find a transmission man. they asked if i would stay for a guarantee. i told them i would let them know this morning.
came in this morning and told them that i was going no matter what they offered me. the benefits greatly outweigh the latter. and suprisingly they understood.

so after working at the same place for 12 years i will be leaving and going to work for the county at fleet maintence. i hope that i am making the right decision.

Wish you the best man, and I hope it works out in your favor. It's definitely the classy, and right, thing to give a good notice to an employer that was fair with you. You never want to burn bridges if you can help it.

This is the best kind of change, tho.' You made the choice instead of having it made for you. Kind of exciting!
    Good luck!

I'd love to know what the county job offers you that outweighs any offer by your current employer, ralphie250.

Good luck in your new job and hope it fully meets your expectations.

Besides the benefits. There are numerous things. More time at home with the family all the holidays off something called sick days (never had those) more vacation time fully vested after 6 years I can retire after 15 years with some benefits 20 with full benefits. A steady paycheck So on and so forth.
My current job only offered me a guarantee. Such was a good guarantee but my wife had a good point when she said " you can stay here and be a transmission man for 30 more years or you can take that job and have opportunities to grow". Such made plenty of since to me.
Im just glad that she is supportive no matter what I decide.
