Wait ... why?

 

Because:

• It doesn't pay for itself. The cost has been borne by cynthetiq and Martian, for the most part.
• There are lots of other places that do exactly what the EZ does, only better.
• We don't like attaching our TFP brand to what is exclusively a porn site.
• It's overrun with spammers from time to time.
• Because it's more hassle than it's worth.
• It adds exactly nothing to the rest of TFP.

But seriously, in addition to what Jazz and Cyn said, I'm going to quote a couple of excerpts of what I said in our internal discussion detailing why I voted to shut it down. Props to bobby and Bilbert for running it after the spinoff, and thanks to everyone for contributing, but I couldn't rationalize supporting any other decision.

I'm not taking shots at anyone with the "someone who we cannot guarantee will keep it secure" line, just stating that it's a bad practice to give private TFP data to someone other than the person we rely on to manage TFP's hardware and software infrastructure. Like any truly skilled sysadmin, Martian does more than the userbase ever sees or knows to keep this place running.

Again on the personal data, and bringing up the intellectual property angle. It seems silly on the surface, but each post is someone's work, and to strip away attribution for someone's work leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Most people probably wouldn't care, but I do.
