    Didn't stay there long.
    Then on to Flagler Beach.

North of Flagler is a little place called Hammock where my first husband and I rented a house for our honeymoon.
That would have been around 1985, I think. This is the way to the beach.

None of these houses were there then and the beach was always empty.
It was like living in Florida a hundred years ago. Things change unfortunately.

Moving on to St. Augustine Beach.
    Loved these trees.

Oh, and forgot to put lens hood on all this day so there are a lot of flares. Then again, I like the flares.

noodle was kind enough to let me know that these stand for 'crack house.' And I wonder if that was why I felt so ill at ease standing in that field.

    great fucking trees, though.

I had never been on St. Augustine Beach before. I like it.

I'll have to wait to post more. I think I can only do 20 at a time.

    All these great storefronts, empty.

This little place was for rent.
I could live there, oh yez.

There will be a few more, I think.

awesome, love the contrast between the emptiness of the beaches and the post-industrial cities. Both empty, but for different reasons.

Drug house. I believe I said "drug house". I don't know how much crack is in St. Augustine Beach... meth and weed, more likely. :)

oh, pardon me. I didn't mean to besmirch the good name of the drug trade in St. Augustine by referring to them as common crack dealers. How terribly ill-mannered of me. :p

Ha ha.... No, I didn't want anyone to think there was that much excitement in St Augustine! Crack's giving a little too much credit to the locals! :D

Lovely compositions and tones, MM. I especially love the church interior shot. And such flawless skies, you must keep a really clean camera.

    Thanks for sharing.

  16. some great shots MM.

what i did notice though is the lack of people around. was that intentional, or does this place feel like a horror movie?

No, I take terrible care of my camera and I had to retouch every one of those skies for dust specks.

It was cold and, I guess, out of season. There were some people around but not many. I guess I wasn't in the mood for taking shots of people. Didn't really think about it.

Actually looking back on these again, I was obsessing over lines and shadows, lines and shadows, lines and shadows. Sometimes it goes that way.
