Open question for everyone better at software than I am (or, in other words, pretty much everyone).

Is there an application (preferably freeware, but at least shareware) that will let me rip mp3s back out of an iPod onto my Mac? And would such an application be fairly straightforward, or would I need to expect surprises?

    TIA

  2. I've done it to a PC before. There are many choices, google "iPod recovery software"

    Yeah, it's iTunes backwards...

I haven't used it in a while, but it was pretty rudimentary and straightforward a few years ago.

I somehow loaded my iPod shuffle up once and was able to click and drag files off of it and onto my computer. Files remained usable and I put them into the new installation of itunes. I didn't think it was possible.

I used software called "Floola" when my storage drive failed. I was able to get all my music off my 80gb classic iPod back to my iMac. It worked for me, but it may be limited in the versions of iPods it supports.
