Ringing in the New Year - What are your plans?

How does our TFP community plan on spending their New Year's eve?

I'm far passed being partied out, and with junior and no babysitters, my nights off are always option-limited. When I lived with my parents many years ago, New Years Eve was always spent at home with Chinese take-out, watching the ball drop only if you felt like staying awake that long.

In honor of that tradition, and more importantly, my love of pork fried dumplings, I am going to buy some Chinese take-out, watch the third Harry Potter movie with LBC and junior (received the full collection on Blu Ray for X-mas), and very casually ring in the new year, while dreading my return to work on Tuesday.

 

Tonight will be just like any other Saturday when she is working except we'll have a glass of wine (or champagne if it isn't sold out around here) at midnight.

 

Sometime today Im going ot throw a turkey breast in the oven. Im also mashing some potatoes, making gravy, sauteing some spice Brussel sprouts with cashews, and finally stuffing those mushrooms. Im sort of excited at the prospect. I havent cooked a turkey or any part of one, nor any other bird for that matter, for years. I was inspired to cook over the hoildays. Well see how long it lasts.

In addition, Im taking my dog to the park, giving him a bath after, and showering myself after that. Then Im cranking up U2 and RH Chili Peps and getting some housekeeping done. Im also monitoring phone calls, and drinking Makers.

 

I'm off to sleep time soon. Bathed my dogs earlier, walked the beach etc... Have a NYE party tonight that will start at 11 and end after sun up tomorrow. I learned my lesson here, parties go all night and sometime all the next day. I won't be driving tonight so I'll be bringing bottle of Costa Rican rum I've been saving for a special night.

Taking down Christmas ornaments & putting them back in storage while watching The Walking Dead season 1 marathon.

 

Enjoying the new year with my husband and hopefully starting the new year off the same way as last night.

 

Talk about bringing in the new year with a bang..LOL

 

I don't know if I want to see pictures of Gina and Tina if they're bottomless. Give me some round booty every time!

In an unrelated vein, I shall be at home with my wife.

 

Nothing special here. Same ol same ol. Hopefully more of what I got last night

 

Late dinner with friends. Will be very low key.

 

have to dial in to work at midnight to send the EDI files because something is broken.

Drinking a 6 pack of beers, and watching shit DVD's while playing Warcraft to kill time till 12

Oh well...

 

Going to play board games with my best friend and her fiance. Probably as the 3rd wheel, unless my ex (who I invited since he didn't have plans) shows up. I doubt he will.

I also went horseback riding with him today, for the first (and only) time in 2011. It was nice.

 

I will be about ready to take my first break at work at midnight. Sounds delightful I know. The three hours of sleep I managed this morning is three more hours than yesterday not counting crashing at break and lunch in the break room, so should be fine for a friday.

 

My hats off to BG for getting me to look up a word on this last night of 2011. Wonder if I'll remember it in the morning?

 

Bonfire and booze with some friends from way back, that live a few miles down the road from us.
