Ok, I'll admit, this thread is mainly made just to make snowy and noodle jealous, but maybe all of you beer drinkers will appreciate it. ;)

Several weeks ago, on another forum that I've frequented for almost a decade, one of the members asked if anyone in the Midwest would be willing to ship him a six pack of Bell's Hop Slam once it hit the stores. The member who asked has a reputation as a huge beer collector/expert, and has posted his basement 'vault o'beer' a few times. Anyway, I volunteered to do so.

Below is a thread I made about it on the other forum ('Dope' is the other guy's handle). I was cracking open one of these beers tonight and thought to share it with you TFP beer lovers too. :)

So far I've tried the Lunch IPA, Audacity of Hops, and Sixpoint Resin. All were very good beers, and right up my alley. I'm cracking open the Jack's Abby Saxonator as I type this. :D

Oh, Borla ... Snowy and Noodle jealous? Heck I'm jealous.

Just reading it. Bloody hell. That resin beer, especially. Retzina wine has always had a special place in my life. When you've drunk it, "Please tell me all about it, " will you?

    :)

I drank the Sixpoint Resin on Friday night. Good stuff. It's a Double IPA, a bit darker and maltier than most IPAs, kind of a pine-y smell (not in a bad way). It's bitter as a good Double IPA should be, but it's very drinkable IMO. I doubt I'll ever have any local to me to be able to get more, but if anyone stumbles across it, and likes IPAs, I say grab some. It's not "bucket list" worthy, but it's definitely worth trying. :)

  4. Holy crap! Dope surely knows his beers, and I'd like to get to know his beers, too! I'm trying to suppress the envy and just feel happy for you, Borla. Not succeeding, but trying:D

Yes he does. Always has usable input on just about any beer imaginable.
I'm good with that as long as you don't mind the 12gauge, bullmastiff, and the dude who looks at his beer like a mama grizzly does her cubs. :p

Great Borla! I'll be over around 8! I've checked with my friend who works the desk at the Addison/Belmont station, and he's giving me a free pass.

Google Maps says it is a 4 hour 35 minute walk from the nearest train station to my house, so enjoy. My recommendation is not to walk through the neighborhood that train station is in after dark :p

I'd be more jealous if I had heard of any of these beers, but being a West Coaster, our coverage of anything East of the Mississippi is spotty at best. We're lucky to get Dogfish Head out here, I think. Part of it is just market saturation--we produce most of what we drink, so there isn't much market share left for those breweries back East. They'd also have to produce more beer to make it all the way out here, I think.
