    What is your favorite flower?
Do you have a different one every day?

Today Littlegirly picked out a bouquet of sunflowers to bring to her Auntie while we were in the store. She loves sunflowers. She thinks they're my favorite, too. I do like them a lot, but I think she gets me confused with Daniel Tiger's mother a little too often...
Right now, my favorite flower is Hibiscus. My grandmother painted a lot of hibiscus still life, and my mom and dad hunted down every variety she painted to put in their "Grandma Garden". I'm anxious to start my own Grandma Garden in our home with some of the same plants. I have to ask my father to compile a master list with everything they have planted in the past 10 years.

A varietal called White Wings is my favorite. Very simple. Full of memories.

I love flowers. Living where I do, my favorite is whatever will grow at my elevation. I've got about 20-30 Canadian Parkland Series, John Cabot roses growing in the front rock garden.

    Not my picture.

These things grow like weeds, are very difficult to kill, and tolerate my cold, short growing season, and intense sun.

I love Shasta daisies. They are indeed friendly, pretty in an understated way, and don't have an overpowering smell.

Hyacinths do have a rather overpowering smell, but I have very fond memories of these. Mom always got one for my grandma and my great-grandma on Mother's Day, and smelling them meant summer was coming and it was warmer outside, and school would be over in a few weeks.

I can almost conjure up the scent just looking at that picture :)

I also have a particular fondness for wildflowers and flowering shrubs (especially jasmine and honeysuckle.)

Daffodils. Always. They are little sunshines.

Man, I love them all. Except the ones that smell like dead things. My mother was a florist when I was little. So I actually love the texture of stems and greens just as much as the depth of color on the flower.

I love tulips and daffodils... they mean that spring has finally arrived.

Sadly, they do not grow here.
