What is your favorite memory of 2015?
What instant of life do you think you will remember in 2025?
What is your favorite memory of 2005? Or do you have one?

This year has been highly memorable, with the birth of my Tinygirly, and the passing of my mother. Many moments etched into memory banks will be easily accessed in another decade.
2005 was the year Tt and I backpacked through Europe, so many memories there as well.

I will come back later to share specific recollections in the comments.

  2. Wow...2015! My sister's 80th birthday get together. The family reunion. My Florida vacation. But the very best was the birth of my grandson!

2005? I bowled a 300. We put the band back together. Not much else comes to mind.

2015: Reading "Llama Llama Time to Share" to BabySquirrel while she snuggled down in my lap. The whole trip out to Oregon was pretty frickin' awesome. 2015 has been a pretty good year.

Oof, 2005. That was such a HUGE year of change for me. I walked away from an unhappy marriage. I quit my bank job to go back to school, and started serving again. I moved back in with my parents. It was emotionally turbulent, for sure.

But. One of my very favorite memories is from the summer of '05. I went camping with ZS & some other friends. Swimming after dark was not permitted, but we walked down to the beach and quietly slipped into the water anyway. I hadn't thought to bring my suit, so I was in shorts and a sports bra...which felt weirdly risqué at the time. The bottom felt kinda...mushy, and I didn't like not being able to see where I was stepping, so as soon as I got out far enough, I turned over to float on my back. The water and the air were the exact same temperature, we were out in the middle of nowhere, and the sky was clear and full of a million stars. I floated there, and just felt so...at peace. It was lovely.

(Later that night, after we got back to our campsite, a raccoon ran out of the woods and stole our tin of pretzels. ZS and I laughed for about ten minutes.)

In 2025, I'm hoping I'll be able to look back on some awesome traveling memories. West Coast again for sure, but possibly Europe, and maybe a cruise or a beach vacation, as well. It's not outside the realm of possibility that I'll have some nieces or nephews by then. Two of my favorite kids will be preteens by then. Yikes.

I am not sure that I have a specific, singular memory from this year that is my favorite. I have several things that happened that I think I'll look back on fondly for years. For maybe the first time ever, I took two lengthy vacations in a single year with tons of great times, including some very unique experiences. So those are probably at the top of my list.

2005 was not the best year for me, I was in a transition period from some pretty dark stuff and lost a very close friend and mentor in a tragic accident. However, the latter part of the year was the beginning of an upswing. So while I don't have a specific positive, it was probably the bottom of a valley and the beginning of a climb up.

I have no idea about 2025, but I'm optimistic.

It's going to take some time for me to get a feel for 2015. I took a lot of risks, we'll see how it works out.

2014 sucked ass. I was skiing expert runs with my wife at 12,000' in Feb, she was admitted to the hospital with respiratory failure in March. We spent the rest of the year trying to make sense of things. In 2015, I purchased a pair of Oxygen concentrators and a camping trailer designed to support them (12v). The good news is that she can ski, hike, and camp again; but that was a serious dent to the retirement fund. Time will tell if it was a good decision or not.

Favorite memory from 2015 would be camping and hiking in Banff/Jasper. Everything worked, we were able to be active and safe (neither was a sure thing).

In 2005, I took my wife to New Zealand for her 50th birthday (Feb). Hut to hut hiking in the Southern Alps.

2025? I'll be 69, being healthy and active is all I'm looking for.

Assuming 2015 continues as it has, it will be my first year being single through the whole thing (since I was a teen). That may not seem like much but it's interesting to me. I met a lot of awesome new people and have done a lot of new things on my own this year. The best part of it was the three week road trip through the backroads of Eastern Canada and doing Toronto all by myself for a few days.

In 2005 I had just moved to Newfoundland, switched universities and switched majors, still didn't know what the fuck I was at.

I have no idea where i'll be in 2025. I'm heading to New Zealand in 2016 so we'll see if i'm still there by then :)

2015 was not a good year for me, my wife, or any close family members. Several memorable--in a bad way--things have happened.

Two good things I can think of are lame:

One of my sisters had a knee placement. We gave her one of the powered lift recliners that had belonged to my wife's deceased mother.

I purchased a two desirable chainsaws for very good prices (yes, lame, I warned you).

What is your favorite memory of 2015? That's a tough one. I've had a peculiar year. I have been a period of transition. Making changes and repairs to my psyche and body. I am sure I still have more to go, but rebooting my relationship with my wife, was a big deal.

What is your favorite memory of 2005? Or do you have one? 2005 was also a year of transition. It was the lead up to 2006 "the year of change". I left an old job to shake up my life. Landed what should have been a great job, but soon realised I needed change. 2005 was a dark year for me but 2006 was on the horizon. It was the year I upped stakes and moved to Singapore for a new lease on life.

What instant of life do you think you will remember in 2025? Knowledge that life should always be changing and change, although scary, is essential to growth and balance. I expect to be somewhere and someone very different in 2025.

My favorite memory of 2015: moving to Reno, for sure. Maybe the hike to the summit of Mount Rose that I did 3 weeks into living here, on a perfect clear day when you could see everything around.

Favorite memory of 2005: working at horse camp during the summer after my freshman year of college. It was a summer of long, hot days with the ponies but with decent companionship. I learned a lot of the value in keeping your body busy so your mind doesn't go too far off the rails.

As for what I'll remember about 2025.. I'm hoping there's a family and a kid or two in there by then. I'll be 40 that year. Eeek.

I guess it would be starting work at DVR.

That is the beginning a path of pulling my life back together.

2005 was cool because my kiddo came down for the summer and the three of us had a great time going to shows and doing stuff.

I really don't know about 2025, probably still be working but I hope to have a house by then.

    Still rebuilding after the Ex...

Found a consistent job...which is saying something since the IT industry is mercenary. (still looking out for the BBD)
Started college again after 15 years.
Had an intense month long sexual fling...that unfortunately didn't work out.
    Bought an awesome car.
Met a very interesting woman...and the relationship is slowly growing. (We'll see)

2005 I got engaged...and I wish I could slap myself out of it.

    2025, I'm a billionaire...for the past 3 years. (I've got a schedule ;))

  14. Christ those were good times. I don't remember the 2005 camping trip, but I remember that moment of you in the water with your clothes on.

2015 was cool because CinnamonGirl came to Oregon to celebrate the spawn's first birthday. That was awesome. I wish I could have spent more time with her, but I didn't have a lot of time off. She should come back. She should MOVE here.

Going to Japan was pretty rad. I can't wait to do that again when BabySquirrel is a bit older. I think we're planning to go every other year, or possibly every 3 years. I know we're planning on going in 2019 for the Rugby World Cup.

I'll be honest, 2005 was a blurr. My mother died in September of the previous year. I moved in with my boyfriend at the time and got a job at a health department. That's all I really remember.

In 2025 BabySquirrel will be 11. Jesus. That seems forever away.
