Power Animals

I post this in General, because Philosophy and Politics seems to be all politics. I just feel like it's out of place over there.

What are your power animals?

We all have totem animals, or power animals; spiritual creatures who walk with us through our lives, representing our strenghts and weaknesses. Some believe our power animals grant us the traits and abilities that make us unique. Some believe it's those special parts of ourselves that attract our power animals to us. I believe it's a two-way, symbiotic relationship.

My predominant spirit animal is the bear. Bears tend to be a bit frightening at first sight, but are really quite playful; those closest to me have always said that about me. Bears exist between the tangible and spiritual worlds, sharing a close relation with trees--common bridges between the worlds; I have, for a long time, felt that what we can see and touch around us is less real than then intangible that lies behind it; for as long as I can remember, I have felt an affinity for and rapport with trees that I can't really explain without sounding entirely mad. A bear draws the lion's-share of his strength and power from his family--his mate and his cubs; my family is everything to me. I am nothing and nowhere without them.

It's been a long time since I did animal totem meditations, but mine were the jaguar and the owl. I never did explore them as well as I probably should. Jaguar probably because I tend to be a loner, arrogant, and vicious when threatened. As far as the owl, I've always been a night person, and I tent to be very observant. Like I said, I did some guided meditation a long time ago, and these are what appeared to me, but I never took as much time as I probably should have to explore those aspects of myself.
