pc gamers: headsup... the steam summer sale started.

    just thought i'd mention this in case someone was under a rock. this and the xmas time sale steam does are hands down the best time to stock up on games. in the past, they only had daily deals but now they're doing "flash sales for 8 hours at a time as well along with voteup deals, so you have to keep an eye out. i got Trine 2 last night for 3.75 and i was looking @ an old school tile dungeon crawler called grimrock.

    besides the daily deals there's a million half off titles till july 22nd.

    I used them once. Game downloaded but wouldn't load. Removed it and tried DL it again. Still wouldn't run. Tried contacting them twice, but it was a wasted effort, never heard back from them. Researched the game a bit and found out there was a known DL problem with it. Some file was corrupted when it was uploaded or something like that. Asked for a refund as they had a game on their servers that was unplayable. Never heard back from them.

    Not impressed with them.

    yeah. They had a free weekend last year and it was fun enough to play. There is a story too but mostly you rob banks and cops try to stop you. You get to shoot cops and try to get away with robbing the bank.

    I'm definitely down. I'm waiting for Worms to go on sale again (missed the flash sale) but will buy it on the last day if it doesn't. I'll happily trade you a copy of that for a copy of Payday.

    I'm trying to resist the lure of Anno 2070. That looks like a timesink if there ever was one. Besides, I'd probably like the previous ones better anyway.

    And I'm glad Port Royale 3 got mixed reviews, otherwise a 50% discount would be a no-brainer.

    Must...resist....

    2)for the next 2 hours l4d2 is only 5$!!

    3) civilization 5 is only 7.50 right now and damn if i'm not eyeballing it like a steak even though i hate rts's!

    Civ 5 isn't an RTS.

    There's a lot that's changed vs Civ 1-4 -- it plays a bit differently in terms of unit management because the stacking rules are revamped and the terrain uses a hex grid instead of squares.

    If you've enjoyed previous titles in the series, it's worth getting at that price. You may like it more or less, but for $7.50 I figure even if you only get a couple games out of it you're still coming out ahead.

    Me, I'm arguing with myself over which DLC packs I should be buying, if any. God and Kings for 25% off seems mighty tempting. From what I've heard it's practically a new game in itself (this is in keeping with my experience with previous Civilization expansion packs).
