Other Forums!?!

    I need to spread my wings on the internet.

    I was not an internet person. Sure I would check my email, that facebook thingy and do online shopping, but that was the extent of my surfing. Mostly I would get bored of being in front of a screen, but while I was at work during slow times, I needed something besides ebay. I asked CinnamonGirl about "that forum thingy" she talked about all the time. Damn her for introducing me to this vile place.

    After 3 years or so here, I've grown to know people. Although I love the advice you people give me, I feel I have lost some anonymity. Something that is very important to me. I have frequented other forums related to hobbies and interests, but there is only so much that is discussed amongst those threads.

    Are any of you a part of any similar forums? How did you find this place?

    I'm still not really THAT much of an internet/computer person, but enjoy good conversation and a place to vent. I'm not looking to leave here, just looking for an unbiased friend.

    It all depends on what you are looking for ZombieSquirrel. I sometimes visit an erotica site called Lushstories.com that also has a forum section. Most of the forums there are geared toward erotica and sex but not all.

    Can't say whether its what you're looking for but I know a lot of folks around here also frequent reddit. There are communities (colloquially known as subreddits) for pretty much any interest.

    whenever i feel the urge to spread my wings, ill visit youtube and get a kick out of watching a few hours of unrelated bullshit, and learn how to make a roast along the way.

    sometimes ill go onto a few other sites and browse, but i realise how many spammers and trolls and immature kids are on there that i give a few allah akbars for TFP.

    TFP for me.

    I reddit. Like through TFP, I've met some amazing real friends through the local subreddits and meet ups.

    Between reddit and TFP, I don't have time for other forums.

    I recently joined reddit because all of my bookclub members are redditors. The local subreddit is pretty dead where we are. The university subreddit is a little busier but tends to be mostly students. However, there are other subreddits to peruse. I enjoy the Cascadia subreddit; it amuses me endlessly to see that there are SO MANY PEOPLE serious about the Cascadia movement. r/aww is also always good if you need a little bit of squee in your day.

    SomethingAwful is pretty fantastic once you learn the language. A lot of subject matter experts on there that love to talk.

    Reddit is really mostly an anon circle jerk but is okay for just lurking or posting pictures of your cool toys, wacky cat or naked girlfriend.

    Probably not a secret that I'm on a bunch of gun forums. If you've got a specific thing you like, you can always threadjack with those people.

    I've spent years trying to find a TFP replacement. It's just not out there. Tight-knit general discussion forums are a pretty rare creature on the Web.
