Remarkably like what Gary Taubes said in his 2007 book Good Calories Bad Calories.

Good Calories, Bad Calories: Fats, Carbs, and the Controversial Science of Diet and Health: Gary Taubes: 9781400033461: Amazon.com: Books

As well as Robert Atkins, Drs. Mary Dan and Michael Eades, Arthur De Vany, and numerous paleoistas. The thesis evolving to the idea that homo sapiens is not evolutionarily suited to a diet with a lot of sugar, HFCS, and other refined carbs/starches.
Thanks for jumping on board, Dr. Lustig.:)

I've read some articles about recent research regarding the dopamine reward system and how it gets hijacked in our decadent culture.

What goes for Oreos and cocaine also can go for Internet pornography, video games, social media, etc.

It's a brain chemistry response over long-term dopamine surges uncharacteristic of pre-20th/21st century times. The brain dulls itself from the onslaught (dopamine insensitivity) and so withdrawal becomes an issue, and you need more to keep things going.

So it's not so much the sugar/fat as the neurotransmitter response to a certain amount of it over a certain period. This is because sugar/fat is only one possible stimulus.

In other words, you could cut out the sugar/fat but move onto some other form of addictive behaviour, whether it be the computer/Internet-based ones I mentioned above.

Apparently, dopamine withdrawal is a bitch.

Every study I've ever read comparing food to cocaine has been PR-hungry bullshit equating dopamine reward pathway activation with cocaine addiction. How is this different?
