Starting off on a kind of open ended road trip tomorrow. Sig (my boyfriend/partner) and I are heading out whenever we get the car packed. Stopping to pick up my mom and dad down in Kansas and heading West to look at some possible investments in New Mexico and maybe a rental/vacation home in Southern California.

I've made hotel reservations in Newport Beach for a week from Sunday, otherwise we'll just stop when we get tired or feel like it. There's two couples, so we will most like get two rooms (or maybe a suite) each night. Roadside motels are usually pretty reasonable in the Southwest this time of year. This will be a legitimate business research trip though, so at least some of the cost will be tax deductible.

Part of this is to give my folks some extended time to get to know my guy, since we are, after five years together, finally talking seriously about getting married. Also to look for some land to buy or lease for a kind of experiment with a new concept of grass-feeding meat sheep (different from wool sheep). Sheep do pretty well on dry land. Beef cattle possibly later.

It's gonna be a little intimate with the four of us in my Accord sedan, and it's my social experiment with me and Dad both being introverts, and Mom and Sig are extroverts. We'll definitely see my sister in Santa Fe, and probably stop in some of the New Mexico towns where my mom grew up and, of course, indulge in some of that great New Mexican cuisine.:) My low-carb plan will be a challenge.

Should be great fun, if we don't end up killing each other.

    Time for bed now

Wait! If you were going to hang out with me you have to head EAST!! :p

Have fun, sounds like an interesting trip. I've always wanted to do a trip through Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, and Idaho like that. Don't know if I'll ever get around to it, but I hope you have an enjoyable time.
