...and now for something completely different....

I'm a little wary of the Robin Williams ingredient. This is either going to be brilliant or it's going to fizzle. Let's hope there's comedy magic in this.

I have a feeling this will not be a good thing. Nothing like old people trying to relive the glory days.

I will be very happy if I am wrong.

I think they can pull it off. They have had quite a few years to think off good stuff.

The challenge will be that the prime audience is still around, just older. The new kids probably won't be rushing to see it.

I'm with Charlatan on this one. This may well taint a fairly sizeable legacy.

I'd say I'm on the cautious side of cautiously optimistic. I have my doubts as to whether one can go home again, and I'm having a hard time reconciling Robin Williams with 60% (or 80%--we'll see....) of the troupe that helped shape my childhood. But I'd really, really like to be wrong. I hope it works out well. Hopefully, they're not dead yet. Hopefully, they feel fine. Hopefully, they won't be stone dead in a moment.

Having seen the Stones and Moody Blues in the past couple years I completely understand your point. But I also caught a Beach Boys concert that someone had to nearly drag me to and I gotta say they were pretty damn good. If you closed your eyes it was the mid to late 60's all over again. If you left your eyes open there were a bunch of old dudes in Hawaiian shirts looking like the only reason they were upright was because most of them had an instrument to lean on. Anyway they sounded great and the humor they inserted into songs pretty much ruled out lip synching. So I had fun. Either that or my date roofied/extasy'ed me and I just think I had fun.

I guess what I'm saying is maybe give it a chance. Either that or take large doses of mood enhancing substances.

I am sure I will give it a chance. I just don't have high hopes.

And mood enhancing substances are hard to come by in Singapore...

I'll bet if you looked hard enough... the problem would be the penalties if caught.

This is a group who actually led to a new OED entry... pythonesque. For those of us who grew up with them, this is a must see. Even if Robin Williams will be there to add nothing to the mix.

I was drunk off my ass in 1984 in Surabaya, Indonesia. It must have been a little after midnight when a couple guys in the group decided to loudly announce "hey!, let's see if we can find some hash. Hell ya, hash man!!!" The entire bar stopped- music, chicks dancing on the stage, the bar tender dropped and broke a glass. I heard 'Com'on Tully! Lets find a taxis driver who can gets us some HASH man! Ya with us?" "HASH dude, HASH! HASH! Hashy, hash, hash!" Even drunk I had visions of the "port o' call liberty" book which detailed the Islamic laws of Indonesia and their medieval punishment for drugs- use, possession and sale which could includ hanging. Drunk as a skunk I managed to slur out "not a,a, a ch-chance man." I tried to talked them out of it but eventually a taxi driver walked over and said he could 'hook them up." As they left I thought to myself "bet I'll be reading about them soon." The next day they were at morning muster. They were pretty pissed off because the taxis driver took them out and basically rolled them. Personally I think they were lucky.

I am not hopeful. Even if all the living Pythons came back for it...I just doubt that former glory can be reclaimed. I guess if anyone's got a chance, it might be them. But even so.... And eight times out of ten, it's a bad idea to have Robin Williams in your movie....

I know and people, esp. young people which I was at the time, can be so stupid.

I think I was helped out of my drunken haze from having just finished reading "Midnight Express." Certainly wasn't because I was years ahead in fore thought wisdom. But the imagery produced by that book stuck hard in my pea brain.

I think you might be being a bit harsh on Robin Williams.
