First off, I went to the library to work for a while. Then came home.

Headed back out to go to Teeter and wanted to go into West Marine. WM is much much bigger than the ones in Nashville. It's about the size of a small grocery store. Was surprised to see that as the front entrance is kind of small, but opens up. They are way overpriced but it seemed like a very friendly place. I'm warming up to the idea of just going there to do something. They have shoes, clothes, boats, rods and tackle, and all the boat stuff. The ones in TN only have boat stuff. It's more like an Academy Sports.

On the way out of the neighborhood near the intersection, I was flagged down by a decently attractive older blonde woman who had two shopping bags in her hands. Rolled the window down and she basically asked which direction I was going, she had heavy bags and could I help. She was wearing nice clothes, had makeup on and the (nice store) shopping bags were new and not crinkly or anything. I let her in the car only feeling ok about it because there were two cop cars right next to us and everything added up to be ok with the exception of why in the world is this person needing help?

Anyway, I was going in the general direction of where she was needing to go, and we talked just a little on the way over. She wanted to go towards Folly Beach and that I could drop her off near the Harris Teeter as that was my destination. I felt bad for her and it was just a few more miles to take her to where she said she needed to go, so I kept going.

I didn't ask her anything other than, Are you Ok? She said that today had been a bad day for her and that was it. I just responded with OK and kept going.

Then we made it over to James Island headed toward Folly Beach and she just said that it would be ok to drop her off at the McDonalds. Sure- thinking that maybe she didn't want me to know where she lived. As she was getting out of the car she asked for $5 and I told her no, good luck with whatever you're going through and bye bye. I pulled around the other side of the McDonald's and there were two cop cars parked with one cop talking to another cop through his window. I walked over and asked them to go check in on her. You never know what someone else is going through, but it just didn't make sense, seeing a clean, well dressed lady in that state. I mean, really. She wore nice perfume (recognized it, but can't remember from who), had designer jeans on, nice figure in a fitted quilted solid color lime jacket. No money, no phone, no purse, but carrying nice bags.

I'm afraid that woman is on serious drugs and is in cover mode. I've had a similar experience in Nashville with a guy who was well known in the area as a scheister. Came to find out that he gets his clothes dry cleaned and pressed just to keep up the image and further the ruse. He stopped me one day on the street and asked for $20. He had his corporate ID card hanging around his neck, and I told him that I would give him the $20 if he would sell me the corporate ID. He hated it, but did it. I called them (clinical trials company) and spoke with HR. I knew the company because they were a customer of mine several years ago. They said that they knew about it, and that he'd slipped off the deep end and sadly is now a street person. I watched that guy go downhill in just a few months- out the window of my pub in Hillsboro Village. I doubt he's alive today.

Had another acquaintance in the same area who went through the same thing. Black guy named Barry. Barry had a car, but still begged. His teeth all fell out over a period of about six months. Looked instantly like a black hillbilly and said he had to drink all his food now. I tried to buy him some dentures and went to the point of actually doing it until I found out that he was lying to me the whole time and was really a crack head.

On the woman, I don't know and it kind of troubled me. Maybe she's on meth or something. She was pretty at one time and not run down looking now. I wish I would have said more to her to get her talking, but looking back at it, she may be a professional at this. What makes you not flag down one of the cop cars and ask for their help?

Pretty sure that's the situation. She had something to hide and I look like an easy target.

This does not happen to a common Kanadian.

Your friend Minerva may be of some help. Talked to her lately?
