Network application latency

I have 9 computers that are having latency when using a network application (meaning when a nurse is charting and saves the information, it takes 10 seconds when it usually takes 1) and I will provide you with a detailed list of what I did to make at attempt at decreasing latency, but with temporary results:

    Lenovo ThinkCentre A70 workstation
    Windows 7 Professional 64bit
    RAM: 4GB
    Hard Drive: 450 GB

    IP addresses are static
    Computer names: lenovoa70## (## means 01-24)

Made sure the network application is compatible with Windows XP SP3

    Disabled computer browser service.
    Disabled IPv6.
    Uninstalled Windows live essential
Turned off the following Windows features: Windows gadget platform, and tablet pc.
    Uninstalled Open Office.
Uninstalled all Lenovo applications that were preinstalled.
    Uninstalled/Installed the network application

Uninstalled AVG Business Edition 2011/Installed it back.
Took a computer off the domain, deleted the account, recreated the account, put computer back on domain.

I restarted the Cisco Switch that provides these computers with network access because I thought it could have been the cause of the latency, but it was not the cause.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Do you have any method to test if the latency issue is limited to that application, I'm guessing that it's most visible with that application.
I once came across similar problem where only one or few application were affected. The cause was a router/switch that was slowing down the authentication.
It can be a bit tricky to figure out what is the cause, if the machine in question has been moved recently on the network then there is a slim chance that some routers or switches haven't updated their mac table.
    Best of luck.

If you're the domain admin, I assume you've run netmon and isolated it to the device itself?

I used Microsoft's Network Monitor to determine if the issue is related to the computer or something on the network that is causing the latency, but didn't find anything that would cause such an issue.

However, after further research, I uninstalled security patches from October to determine if they could be the cause of the network latency. I would uninstall the patch, test the network application, if nothing improved, install the patch again and continue the process. I uninstalled security update KB2564958 and discovered a massive improvement in OS and network performance. I will wait several days to hear back from users (who usually call complaining about the issue) to determine if this is the fix.

Interesting, I take it that the patch was client side, but it raises the question if this patch was not installed on those that didn't have any issue or not.

Yes, the patch was client side, specifically 18 computers running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

I think my next project will be installing/configuring a WSUS server. Do you have experience with this Zweiblumen?

Nope, I don't know nor can do anything
    :)

PS: I suspect that this issue is also in the 32 bit version since I have noticed something thing similar to what you describe in a 32 bit environment.
