Dr. Tyson asked this today on Facebook:
"I hardly ever ask questions on this wall, but I feel compelled: Tuesday I'll be at the White House. If you had one sentence for the President, what would it be?"

I thought about it for a while - would I mention something about poverty, healthcare, immigration, foreign policy? So many pressing issues. One overwhelming things stands out that I feel we need to address head-on and full-force. So if I had one sentence it would be "Mr. President, in times of war and conflict our country has spent billions of dollars and set brilliant minds to work to build the atomic bomb and put a man on the moon; for the sake of peace and survival it's time that we do the same to make clean energy cheap and widely available before global warming becomes an irreversible catastrophe."

I can't agree more. The most pressing issue today is finding a clean, sustainable source of power. A source that alleviates the need of involving ourselves in the morass that is the Middle East.

Why should I give you another four years when things are worse now than when Bush was in office?

I was going to go with "Stop being so Republican."

I know this thread is about NdGT, so I will comment on that too.

He's right. The main difference is that the threat of doing nothing in this respect isn't immediate and in your face. The threat isn't imminent. There is no Pearl Harbor. There is no Sputnik. Not yet, anyway. But do we really want to see what would compare?

You likely have more Americans wanting to use military force against Iran than those who'd rather spend the same resources on finding a clean energy source.

What can I do to help America be a great country?

Or, have you been to Area 51 yet to see the aliens?

On a serious note, it would have to be something about the drug war, improving Mexico, and the job conditions migrant workers face, maybe something about fairness in the economy, the corruption in all levels of government, and the police state we find ourselves living in.

How is it that we can give banks zillions to keep them from failing, but we can't make them refi otherwise creditworthy buyers whose homes are underwater to prevent a second housing crisis? Didn't we tell them what they had to do to get the money the stole...er, borrowed from us?

Since I've seen what he's actually doing while working for the White House, "Keep doing what you're doing, keep strong"

The man is cleaning up a mess...really working to make things truly more efficient...and he's asking EVERYONE, no matter their background.
I was impressed with the actions taken...not the political snippets that everyone else sees from either side.
I truly believe, if there weren't conflicting interests ( from all sides ), then he'd be much further ahead.

Hell, where government truly goes wrong...if being run by a sincere and intelligent person, that is
is the long-term officials and other government workers who's potential biases, disorganization and own egos actually hinder the good work.
This is not to say there are not good ones, it's just that the bad ones...or normal ones with bad days, gum up the works or make bad decisions.
And because this is done by the Federal Govt, it is on such a large scale...that even minor stupidity has significant impact.

It doesn't matter the administration, because these folks stay throughout the years, one pres after another.

  14. Blair tried Twitting under the guise of his charity. Questions asked included 'Given that you make so many millions a year Mr Blair, why do you pay so little tax?'
My fave was from a 24yr old student, who felt compelled to ask - 'Mr Blair, did you know that 1984 is a novel and not an instruction manual?'
