Need Mobo combo advice

    I think its time to upgrade my system, im still running ddr2 and would like to get up over 4gigs.

    Any advice on a motherboard combo that I can stay under $250?

    Id like to have at least 3 memory slots so I can jump to 6-8gigs, onboard sound and lan. Cant remember what my vid card is, its about 2yrs old, so that is staying.

    Any tech guru recommendations? I can wait a few months if there are gonna be new items/price drops coming down the pipe.

    ddr2 should not by itself limit you to less than 4 GB. To be able to use more than 3-4 GB ram your OS needs to be 64 bit.
    Current mb are using dual channel or triple channel memory configurations so they have number of slots in multiples of 2 or 3 respectfully.

    Generally a system with ddr2 memory should be usable for most tasks except heavy games and same goes for the graphics.

    In most cases it's the hard drives or storage devices that are the most limiting part of computer perforamce.

    There are always a new items and price drops in the pipe.
