Donald "Donnie" Hux has died after a Sunday night gun battle with Union County authorities on U.S. 82 west of El Dorado. His ex-wife, whom Hux had kidnapped earlier in the day, was also found deceased.
Details are sketchy, but reports say that Hux was killed after he was seen fleeing his parents' home in the Parkers Chapel community. Police pursued Hux, which led to an exchange of gunfire in which Hux was killed about 9 p.m. The body of his ex-wife, Amy Huckabee of Arkadelphia, was also found.
    No officers were reported injured.
Authorities were expected to release more details on Monday.
Mrs. Huckabee, of Arkadelphia, was kidnapped early Sunday after Hux broke into her home and shot and killed her husband, Sandy Carl Huckabee. Sandy Huckabee's father was the first cousin of former Gov. Mike Huckabee's father, according to press reports.
Sandy Huckabee was killed at the couple's residence at 2304 Forrest Park Drive on the north side of Arkadelphia about 4 a.m. Sunday, said Amy Huckabee's cousin, Alicia Hunter of Magnolia.
Huckabee was shot while he slept, Hunter said. Amy Huckabee and her three children were taken from the home but the children were dropped off at the home of Hux's parents, she said. The parents live on Murray Lane off Arkansas 15 southwest of El Dorado.
Columbia County Sheriff Mike Loe said Sunday afternoon that his deputies searched for Hux earlier in the day in the Atlanta area. They had information that Hux may have a deer camp in the vicinity. They did not find Hux or the vehicle he was believed to be using.
Union County Sheriff Mike McGough issued a statement Sunday afternoon asking that the public be on the lookout for a tan-colored 2005 model Chevrolet extended cab pick-up truck with an Arkansas license plate reading 487 MZD. Hux was officially wanted in Clark County on charges of capital murder, kidnapping, possession of a firearm by certain persons and aggravated residential burglary.
According to Sandy Huckabee's Facebook page, Mr. Huckabee was self-employed as a psychological examiner. He also worked for ECCEL in El Dorado in a similar position. Huckabee was a 1979 graduate of Hope High School and received degrees in biblical studies and psychology from Ouachita Baptist University in 1990. He held a master of science degree in clinical psychology from Northwestern State University, graduating in 1992.
Amy Huckabee was a Springhill, La., native and graduated from Springhill High in 1993. She graduated from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia with a degree in elementary education in 1997 and was a teacher in Arkadelphia.
Hux, 36, had been in and out of legal trouble in the states of Texas and Louisiana during the past two years. Most recently, Hux pleaded guilty in October to a misdemeanor assault charge in Caddo Parish, Louisiana. He was first charged with two counts of attempted aggravated sexual assault.
A poster purporting to be Hux posted two statements Saturday on the El Dorado, Arkansas Forum page of , claiming that the sexual assault charges against him were false. "If you really know me you know I'm a good person. If you think otherwise you don't know me at all," the post said in part.

I dont remember if the links will post on here or not..

I logged on Facebook last night.. and saw everyone worrying about my long term friend Amy..

I went through a divorce last year. Amy was one of my friends that kept my spirits up through it all.. and during that time. I got to know more about her life after school.

She married a monster. (I'm putting that nice as I can) Hux was a truck driver.. He shot and killed his brother at a young age due to "I didnt want to get up and change the channel and he wouldn't"

Guy was in and out of the system. Amy told me a few months ago he was in prision for sexual assault on a hooker..

All said and done. He's murdered around 20 people in his life time. Both Texas and Louisiana prisons let him out for "time served" still lost on that one.. Even the FBI was looking into him. The fact he kept sending Amy letters threatining her and her new husband, didn't matter to any authorities..

So Hux comes into their house. Kills Amy's husband Sandy Huckabee and kidnaps Amy and the 3 kids.. Lord only knows why, but he dropped the kids off. Then shot her and died in a shoot out with the police.

The justice system has offically failed me, and is beyond recovering. How they could let this guy go, not even notify family and such of the event. And.. yeah I'm just venting in a way.. yet I don't blame Hux as much as I blame the officials, authorities and the justice system that let him slip through and allowed this to happen.

I just wanna run out side .. let the anger boil till its white hot. That it blinds me and scream at the world.

what bothers me about this whole situation, aside from the fact that you lost a good friend through senseless violence, is, where did he get the guns? and how?

This is a tragedy for everyone. I feel for your loss, and I understand your anger and feeling of impotence towards the justice system. Do not let your friend's memory die.

do it. find a park or a room or a punching bag and scream until your throat bleeds, hit something until you can't lift your arms or swing your legs or twitch a single muscle out of fatigue. When you wake up if you're still that angry, do it again...

then grieve. cry, write, ponder, talk to people. whatever it takes, do what you need to do so that you can emotionally accept the events and get back to living your life.

lastly, don't blame "The System." They didn't kill your friend, some fuck who got several doses of 9mm medication for his problem did it. It's hard to see how they've done things right for you, but look at how many other would be murderers etc. are kept locked in large steel and concrete boxes so that what happened to you doesn't happen to others.

    Take care of yourself dude.

I am very sorry for your loss, that is a truly horrible story all around. :(

  9. What a numbing tale... deepest condolences.

Very little that is good can come out of these events, except for those three children. They are gonna need a lot of help rising from these ashes.

  10. What a terrible ordeal. I hope there will be peace and healing for you and her family. It won't come soon enough, though.

I'm sorry to meet you under these circumstances, Drider_it :(

    R.I.P Amy

    And R.I.P Uncle Jerry

And, in a perverse way, R.I.P your trust in 'The System'

Two of them were taken away, and one of them let her down.

I had a very careful read of your post here, and also of your short story in the other thread:
Amy was one of the people who Guarded you. She did. And now she's gone: the System could have done more to guard her.

In your position I'd be going mad now. The kind of madness which lets everything out, but because neither of us is a Hux type, the kind of madness which may heal, or at least take everything out of the wardrobes, cupboards and drawers and fling it on the floor, where it can be seen and, because seen, in the light, then Dealt With. NOT a pretty sight, and no points for elegance or socialized expressions of grief. You go ahead and "run out side .. let the anger boil till its white hot. That it blinds me (you) and scream at the world". Scream your guts out, mate ...

Hey ... actually this is what you are doing Right Now, isn't it? That story you wrote, and now this; this IS part of your screams. I'm reading the posts above, and it's obvious that your screams are being heard. And heads are nodding. I reckon white hot is the right temperature for your anger, and it's the blindness of the outside that you see clearly as you scream.

My heartfelt condolences to you, Drider_it.

  12. I am sorry for your pain and loss. Bloody ridiculous that people he threatened were not warned he was now out on the loose. I suspect there will be calls for that to be changed - of course you have a right to bloody well know if you are likely to become a victim. Perhaps you could join your voices and try to change this practice in the name of Amy.
